what tools do dog owners utilize to monitor their pets at F.W. or resorts via mobile devices? How reliable is the D.W. wifi? For campers, I've noticed they employ devices to track the temperature in their RVs. Any suggestion/thoughts.

Hello there Denise, and welcome back to planDisney!

Thanks for visiting us with your question today. As a mom of two dog fur-babies myself, I can totally relate to your concern for them while you'll be visiting Walt Disney World. You want to make sure they'll be ok, so you can enjoy your time at the Most Magical Place on Earth!

It sounds like you've done your research, and are familiar with the Disney Resort locations that are dog-friendly. Although I cannot speak to specific products or apps for monitoring your pet, I can confirm that the Disney World Resort Wi-Fi is stable. If you set up something like a portable camera or device in your room (or camper) that relies on wireless monitoring via Wi-Fi, you should feel fairly confident this method will work. If you're reserving a campsite at Disney Fort Wilderness, call Disney Reservations and request a note for a campground loop with stronger Wi-Fi to help you monitor your pets..

I know when we camp with our dogs, as long as our campsite has a full hookup that provides electricity which allows us to run our air conditioning... it alleviates our concerns with the RV temperature while we are away. And if you go the route of staying at one of the resorts that allow dogs, you can set the desired room temperature before departing. There is an additional nightly fee for pets, with a maximum of two dogs allowed. You can also check out my previous guest response which discusses how to reserve a pet-friendly room, along with the current nightly fees charged at each of the Disney Resort options.

When I recommend to friends that they should always consider staying on-property, one of the big benefits of staying at a Disney Resort that I mention is the convenience of being able to take a break from the Disney Parks midday. It's easy to hop on free Disney transportation and head back to your resort, which will be something you'll likely want to build into your plans. Please note the Disney Resort dog policies state you cannot leave your dog unattended in a guest room for a period longer than 7 hours. You can also coordinate a time with housekeeping for them to service your room when the dogs will not be present.

With a little faith, trust, and pixie dust... and planning... your pups can safely vacation with you at Walt Disney World. It's good to be aware that while certain sections of these Disney Resorts are designated pet-friendly, pets are not allowed in the majority of areas at the hotels. Other than service animals, dogs are not permitted in theme parks, restaurants, pools and recreational spaces.

Denise, I hope this helps! Please feel free to visit us again at planDisney any time with your questions. We love to assist fellow guests just like ourselves to plan for the Best. Trip. Ever.

    Have a magical day!
    Tami
