If Tom Sawyer’s Island closes at 5pm, does that mean the last time to enter the line is at 5pm, or does one have to leave the attraction by 5pm?

Hi, Danielle! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I have vivid memories of playing with my cousin on Tom Sawyer Island when I was a little girl. We loved exploring the trails and caves and fort and riding the raft there and back. Now I love making those same memories with my own little girl. (Her favorite part is definitely playing with the canons in the fort.)

If you’re on Tom Sawyer Island on a day when it closes at 5 p.m., that means the last raft to leave the island and return you to the “mainland” will leave the dock at 5 p.m.--so you’ll want to make sure you’ve wrapped up your activities before then and that you’ve given yourselves enough time to return to the dock to catch that last ride.

Depending on how adventurous you and your crew are, I would give yourselves at minimum an hour to explore the island. Depending on the weather, sometimes I like to find a shady spot to sit and read while my daughter plays with my husband there. We always make time for a hike together, though!

I hope you enjoy your visit to Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom Park, Danielle! Please let us know if there are any additional questions we can answer for you or tips we can offer to help you enjoy your time at Walt Disney World Resort. We hope to see you real soon!
