I was told you could get the free dinning packages in the fall and my husband and I will be taking our son for the first time this fall. I have not booked anything yet but how does it work and what do the points mean?

Hi, Erica! Thanks for visiting us here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Periodically, Disney will offer vacation packages with Free Dining. Right now there is a Walt Disney World Special Offer for certain Spring travel dates on discounted room only resort stays or room plus Magic Your Way Tickets. Keep checking online using the link I provided to see if free dining packages will be offered for the Fall season.

You can actually book a vacation package now for the Fall if you have a good idea of your travel dates (modifications can be made, if necessary). Booking sooner rather than later ensures your first choice of resort hotel, room type and preferred dates. If a Free Dining Offer becomes available, you would simply call Disney Reservations to request that the offer be applied to your existing reservation (based on availability). Also, it's important to keep in mind that many of the more popular dining locations fill up quickly, so you'll want to make your Advance Dining Reservations as early as 180 days prior to your stay.

The Disney Dining Plans are based on meal credits (points) and are directly linked to the number of nights of your package stay. There are 5 types of dining plans, although the most popular are Quick-Service Dining and "regular" Dining (which includes one table-service meal per person per day). You can find all the details on the plans by clicking on the highlighted "Disney Dining Plans" link above.

Wishing you a magical vacation, Erica! Please write back if I can assist you further.
