I have a toddler with a heart condition that prevents her from walking or standing for extended periods of time. What do I need to do to make her visit the best it can be.

    Valerie,

I'm very sorry about your daughter's condition.  My middle daughter has a heart problem as well so I understand your concern.

Will you be bringing a stroller for her? If not I would definitely rent one.  The wheelchairs are not covered and I believe the sun shade would be beneficial for her.  I would also bring a comfortable padded stroller from home if you can.  The Disney strollers are hard plastic, and she'd probably be more comfortable in her own reclining seat where she could rest.

I'm not sure what time of year you are traveling, but if it's in the summer I would definitely recommend bringing some battery-powered handheld fans and/or a spray misting fan to keep cool.  We buy the inexpensive ones with foam blades that are safe for little fingers, and they have saved many a hot trip.  Also be sure to keep her hydrated.  Any of the counter service restaurants will provide you with a cup of ice water at no charge, so definitely take advantage of that for her.

If she needs to remain in her stroller as much as possible, talk to guest services inside the park.  They can provide you with a guest assistance pass that will allow you to wheel her up to the ride or attraction and she can transfer from the stroller into a seat that way.  It will not allow you to skip lines, but it will make waiting in lines much easier for your daughter.

Be sure to follow her cues, and plan for a slower pace and mid-day breaks to rest and relax.  Have a fantastic vacation!
