Ahoy there, friend!
Thanks for sailing by planDisney with a question for us. I'm happy to help!
You'll be glad to know that your little sailor can certainly bring his own suitcase and/or carry-on bag on your upcoming April voyage. As my pal
Shannon shared with another guest, each passenger can bring along more than the bare necessities as long as checked baggage doesn't exceed two per person. You'll also want to review the
list of prohibited items to make sure you aren't accidentally smuggling any pirate contraband on board.
When it comes to carry-on luggage make sure your bags aren't larger than 14 x 9 x 22 inches in order for the security scanners to accommodate them. Keep in mind you will be handling these bags until your stateroom is ready so you don't want to overpack. We typically stash a bathing suit and any pool essentials in our day bag so we can enjoy the upper decks while waiting for our stateroom. Your toddler probably has their own special list of essentials (mine never left home without a few toys, stickers, and an autograph book) but you'll also want to keep your wallet, ID and any medications within your carry-on as well. If you plan to
bring along any wine or beer with you, this must also be carried on instead of packed in your checked baggage.
My best tip is to pack a little extra room in your luggage for
souvenirs. We always pick up an ornament to commemorate our vacation, but sometimes we go a little overboard (my husband's words, not mine) and snag a new Spirit Jersey, sunglasses, Minnie ears, or jewelry too. Best to leave enough space to accommodate all those at-sea purchases. If you're itinerary stops at
Disney Castaway Cay you'll also find an assortment of items you can't purchase anywhere else. Don't say I didn't warn you!
I hope this was helpful. If we can answer any additional planning questions or offer suggestions for your particular itinerary please sail right on back and let us know.
Magic and memories,
Amy
