Hi Kim,
I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed about the pool and pool bar being closed for refurbishments during your upcoming vacation, but I have to say that I think you will still LOVE staying at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's one of my family's very favorite places to stay! Between the stunning artwork, the abundance of special activities, and the amazing wildlife, you'll really feel immersed in the African culture. Even though the Uzima Pool and the Uzima Springs Pool Bar will be closed during your visit, you'll be able to visit the
Samawati Springs Pool and the
Maji Pool Bar right next door at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village. It's only a short walk or internal shuttle bus ride away!
I would definitely encourage you to pick up a Recreation Calendar when you arrive as there are some
wonderful special programs offered. While programs are always subject to change, my Mouseketeers were able to learn about what the animals eat and fill some feeding tubes that the Cast Members then used to feed the animals. So cool! Speaking of feeding animals, I checked with a Cast Member about times, and they told me that the animals at the Arusha Savanna are usually fed in the mornings and evenings, but that actual times vary daily. You'll want to check with the Lobby Concierge or Club Level Concierge to find out when the feeding times will be during your stay.
Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kim, and please let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip. Wherever you decide to stay, I hope that you have a truly magical vacation!
Missy
