how much time should it take to get to magic kingdom from the french quarters and what time does the monorail start in the morning?

Hi Audrey! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask a question about your upcoming visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.

Traveling throughout Walt Disney World is so conveinant, especially with Disney's complimentary transportation. In order to reach Magic Kingdom from Disney's Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter you will need to board the bus that is heading to Magic Kingdom.  Once on the bus it is about a 15 minute ride to your destination. If you have a reservation planned I would allow at least 60-90 minutes to make it from the time you leave your Guest room until you arrive at your reservation. It may not take this long, but I always like to plan wiggle room.

As for Disney Monorail transportation there are 3 separate Monorail lines that all run through the Transportation and Ticket Center. The Epcot Beam travels from Epcot to the Transportation and Ticket Center and runs from one hour before Epcot opens until one hour after Epcot closes at night.  The Express Beam which travels from the Transportation and Ticket Center directly to the Magic Kingdom runs 30 minutes before the earliest Magic Kingdom opening time until one hour after it closes at night.  As for the Resort Monorail line this opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes one hour after Magic Kingdom does at night. This line travels between Disney's Contemporary Resort, Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Magic Kingdom.

I hope this has helped. If you have any other questions please send them our way.  Helping fellow Guests is what we love best.
