Hi Moms, 1. time travelling with husband, two girls 3 and 5 and an infant my question is: What hotel would you pick? We're thinking Animal Kingdom Lodge or Floridian? We're going mid Oct - nov 1 How about crowds and weather? Mette from Denmark

Hi Mette! What a wonderful time you will have on your first Walt Disney World vacation! Staying at a Disney resort is almost half the fun. With wonderful theming and amenities, you are sure to feel right at home.
If animals in the savannah are your fancy, then Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is definitely for you. With African inspired touches left to right, and wildlife grazing right outside your balcony, your children and you will be wide-eyed with wonderment.
Or, perhaps a return to Victorian charm is what you are looking for.  Then Disney's flagship resort, The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is what you need. Tastefully appointed rooms, a grand lobby that reaches skyward, complete with a grand piano and live music plays daily.  Plus, you can't beat the location:  just a short walk to the Magic Kingdom theme park!
Maybe your daughters love Disney Princesses.  In that case, I would highly recommend the new Royal Guest Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans--Riverside Resort. From the linens to the decor, there are royal accents and princess touches, and of course, characters that your daughters will DEFINITELY recognize. The rooms are ready to book and will be opening in early Spring.
As for the weather in mid-October, you will probably see anywhere from 75-85 degrees and the crowds are pretty decent, except for evenings when Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is happening. In November, it will cool off a bit, but still mildly pleasant at an average of 70-75 degrees.
Hope that this helps you plan a magical vacation, and may it be the first of many more!
