1st time cruising and my dad does not like to dress up. Will he be able to wear jeans and a shirt to dinner each night? Also, on formal nights will the more casual restaurants be open or would we feel uncomfortable on those nights w/o dressing formally?

Welcome aboard, Candra! Your first cruise with Disney Cruise Line is coming up and there is so much excitement in store for you! Dining on Disney's ships is always fabulous with all sorts of delicious options, and of course really unique restaurants to enjoy!

You didn't mention which ship or itinerary you'll be sailing, so I can't tell you exactly what attire nights you'll have. However, if it's a three, four or five night cruise, there will be one optional dress up night, with the other nights being Cruise Casual. Six and seven night sailings include a Formal Night, a Semi Formal Night and the rest are Cruise Casual.

On Cruise Casual nights, you're welcome to wear nice jeans and most men will wear those, nice dressy shorts or khaki pants with a polo-type shirt or something similar. Should you choose to skip the main dining restaurants on Formal or Semi-Formal night, you are welcome to head up to Cabanas (or Beach Blanket Buffet on the Wonder) when the buffet becomes a casual table service restaurant for dinner, where you can wear something more casual. Additionally, you can grab a bite for dinner at the quick service spots on the pool deck or order from the 24-hour complimentary room service menu (just be sure to bring some singles, as it's traditional to tip the Cast Member who delivers your rooms service a few dollars).

On Formal and Semi-Formal nights, you'll see a wide range of dress for men. Everything from khakis with a button-down dress shirt to ties and sports coats to even tuxedos. So, if your dad feels comfortable in khakis and a dress shirt for those nights, that is perfectly fine too!

Have fun as you plan this exciting vacation, Candra!
