What time is checkin for the campsites and do I need to stop for an escort to my site

Circle the wagons, Becky, and welcome to planDisney! You'll have the best time in the great wide somewhere, also known as the Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Let's look at the check-in process at this rustic Walt Disney World Resort property.

Guests are typically welcome to check in after 3:00 PM at this resort, and you will stop by the Reception Outpost when you arrive. But if you think you'll be coming earlier, yee-haw! I have some tips for you.

You can use Direct-to-Room Service by completing advance check-in online or in your My Disney Experience Mobile App. Bring up your resort stay in your plans and look for the "Begin Check-in" button. One of the options allows you to make specific location requests, and you can choose to prioritize an early arrival above other requests.

No matter your preference, completing online check-in allows you to be notified as soon as your site is available. I always provide my cell number to get a text and a link to a resort map. It's as easy as making s'mores around the campfire!

I chatted with a cowpoke Cast Member, and he was unaware of guests being escorted to their campsite. Guests are typically asked at the resort gate for proof of their reservation and ID when they first arrive, and if you haven't completed online check-in, you might need to stop by the Reception Outpost. You and your posse are welcome to set up camp on your own!

My family enjoys staying at the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, and we plan to rent a golf cart the next time we visit there. My tip is to reserve one in advance since they book up quickly. Giddyup!

Becky, I hope your next visit has no discouraging words or cloudy skies! Please stop by planDisney anytime, partner.

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
