Hi, Jill! Welcome to planDisney.
My wife and I always make a point to celebrate special occasions at
California Grill—there’s just nothing like enjoying an incredible meal with a breathtaking view of the
Magic Kingdom Park fireworks. It’s the perfect way to turn a great night into a truly unforgettable one!
For your trip in September, show times for
Happily Ever After haven’t been released yet, but it usually begins around 8:00–9:00 PM that time of year. To have the show fall between your main course and dessert, I’d recommend making your reservation about 90 to 120 minutes before the fireworks. That means if the fireworks are at 8:00 PM, aim for a 6:30–7:00 PM dinner time. This gives you enough time to enjoy appetizers and your entrée at a relaxed pace before stepping out to the observation deck for the show. If the timing doesn't work out perfectly, Hakuna Matata! The servers at this restaurant are unbelievable, Jill. They will do all they can to ensure you can step away from your table and enjoy the show without it disrupting your meal.
Reservations open 60 days in advance, but if you’re staying at a
Disney Resort hotel, you can book for your entire trip (up to 10 days) starting 60 days before check-in. California Grill is one of the most popular dining spots at Walt Disney World, so I’d highly recommend
booking as soon as your window opens.
Even if your reservation doesn’t line up perfectly and you have to dine much earlier in the evening, all is not lost—you can come back later to watch the fireworks from their private viewing area. You just need to show your dining receipt to the Cast Member at the restaurant check-in desk. So no matter what time you eat, you won’t miss out on the magic.
Jill, enjoy your dinner and the show—it's the ultimate way to end a Disney day! Let me know if you need any more tips!
