Hi, We have tickets purchased separately from our hotel reservation. Are we still able to book lightning lanes 7 days in advance? Do I need to take any extra steps beforehand? Thanks!

    Hiya Marisa,

Welcome back to planDisney! It always makes us smile when Guests come back to visit us for help planning their vacations. Walt Disney World Resort is always evolving, and sometimes it can be hard to navigate it all. That's why we are here: to make sure you can enjoy your vacations!

Speaking of which, great question about Lightning Lanes, Marisa. Whenever my family and friends come to me for planning advice, we spend most of our time discussing Lightning Lanes. So yes, Marisa, you are correct. Guests with a confirmed resort hotel reservation can reserve Lightning Lanes 7 days before their trip for the entire length of their reservation. So if you are checking in on October 2nd and staying through October 6th, you can make Lightning Lane reservations for every day, including the 6th ( up to 14 days). The best news is that this is true even if your tickets are not part of a Vacation Package and were purchased separately. What matters is that your resort reservation and valid theme park tickets are linked to your My Disney Experience account for you and anyone in your family. Without this key step, you won't be able to purchase and reserve your Lightning Lanes during that 7-day advance window and will need to wait until reservations open to all Guests 3 days prior.

I hope this was helpful, Marisa. Before I let you go, to check whether your reservations are linked to your My Disney Experience account, log in and select "View Your Plans and Tickets." You will see "Marisa's Plans and Tickets" as a header. Scroll down until you see "My Plans, Reservation and Ticket." Under that is "Daily Itinerary" and "Tickets, Passes & Memory Maker."  If you click "Tickets, Passes & Memory Maker," you should see all the tickets and Annual Passes assigned to yourself and anyone on your Family and Friends list (as long as you share plans). If you don't see your tickets, you'll need to link them before September 25th for them to be valid for the 7-day window. To check your resort hotel, click "Daily Itinerary."  You should see the park reservations you have made (if applicable) and your confirmed resort reservation. If, for any reason, you don't see your resort hotel reservation or tickets, you can also link them on this page. Click the blue "Add More Plans" drop-down menu and select "Link Reservations and Purchases." The next page will guide you through adding in your reservations.

If there is anything else we can do to help, please let us know. Please come back and see us. We are always here when you need us!

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
