Hello there, Derek! Welcome to planDisney, where we answer all of your burning
Disney vacation planning questions.
Currently, all registered Guests at a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel with valid theme park admission are eligible to purchase
Lightning Lane Passes when their window opens. This should be regardless of whether or not you purchased theme park tickets separately from your hotel reservation.
While you won't be able to actually buy them until 7 days ahead of your check-in date (when staying at a Disney hotel), you can test out that everything is working as it should a few weeks ahead of time.
Once reservations are all linked and theme park tickets have been purchased, you can do this by completing the following steps:
- Open the My Disney Experience mobile app.
- Click the three horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Select the "Lightning Lane Passes" tile.
- Click "Purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass." Don't worry if that's not the exact product you want, and unless you're doing this within your purchase window, you won't actually be able to purchase passes at this time. This is just to see who is eligible and when.
- If the first date you're visiting the parks is selectable, go ahead and select it.
- Next, select a park and the product, and click the blue "Continue" button at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down on the next screen, and you should be able to see anyone connected to you through your Family & Friends list who is eligible to purchase Lightning Lanes for that date and when they're able to purchase them.
You can typically do this up to 21 days ahead of time. If it's too early, you may just have to wait a bit until you're able to confirm. If anything looks off when you check, go ahead and
contact a friendly Cast Member on My Disney Experience and MagicBands line at the Resort, and they'd be happy to get to the bottom of it!
In the meantime, make sure everyone is linked to a reservation, has theme park tickets if they need them, and is connected through the My Family & Friends list. You'll also likely want to ensure that each Guest in your travel party has toggled on the option to view and modify plans by clicking the "Edit Settings" option next to each name.
