I have tickets with my family of 5 set for March. We are staying on resort. But I have extended family coming with us. They are not staying on resort. If I book character dining, can I have one of my family Members go along in my place at dinner?

Hi Douglass! Thanks for stopping by planDisney!

You're sure to have a wonderful time at The Most Magical Place on Earth when you're there with everyone you love! It sounds like you and your family are having fun setting your upcoming plans in stone and coordinating dates and times when you can all be together. We often travel with my extended family and we've found that on the days that our plans take us in separate directions an Advance Dining Reservation at a Character Dining Experience is the perfect way to get us all together in the evening!

The answer to your question is simple...it depends!  If your Character Dining Experience is not located within a Theme Park, such as Chef Mickey's at Disney Contemporary Resort or Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera at Disney's Riviera Resort, one of your extended family members is certainly welcome to go in your place.  Because you do not need a Theme Park Ticket to explore the Disney Resorts Collection hotels anyone can make reservations at these locations even if they are not staying on Disney property or planning on spending time in the Parks.

Now, if you're hoping to share a Character Dining Experience that is inside one of the four Theme Parks, your relative could attend the Advance Dining Reservation if they have their own Theme Park Ticket to enter the Park.  Because Theme Park Tickets are nontransferable you would not be able to share your Theme Park Ticket so that another person could use it just to attend a Dining Reservation. That being said, if they do not yet have Theme Park Tickets they are certainly welcome to purchase their own Ticket and then attend the meal with your family.

My best advice would be to plan a meal outside of the Parks where you can all plan on enjoying the characters and the beautiful atmosphere of the Resort together.  Have a magical stay!

Meet the Panelist: Ashley, Massachusetts

Hi All, I'm Ashley! From the very beginning Walt Disney World Resort has always been a part of my life. As a child I excitedly helped to plan family trips, as a young adult I planned our "happily ever after" right on Disney property, and now I'm lucky enough to plan magical vacations for my three incredible children. When we're not taking in the enchanting experiences of the parks, we're home in Massachusetts, probably planning our next trip! Learn More About Ashley
