Hey friend,
Welcome to planDisney! There’s no better way to celebrate your parents’ 50th anniversary than to head to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I am thrilled that they will get to visit Walt Disney World for the very first time on such a special occasion, and even more thrilled that I get to help you plan for it! The first thing I want you to consider is booking a
Capture Your Moment session at Magic Kingdom. This 20-minute photo session is a fantastic way to celebrate with keepsake photos that your family will never forget. Consider purchasing
Memory Maker as well so you can have unlimited PhotoPass downloads of all your vacation photos and take as many as you can!
To help answer this question, I phoned a real expert: my mom! She and my aunt have been visiting since I was 4 years old - then with me as a kid, now with me and my own kids. She had plenty of great advice that I can’t wait to share with you. Her first tip was to consider renting an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) either from inside the parks or from a third party. Magic Kingdom is pretty huge and it can be difficult to do all that walking, especially for first-timers of any age. Additionally, be sure they wear comfy shoes that are already broken in.
My mom also says that planning out where you’ll eat your meals early and either
mobile ordering via a quick service restaurant or having dining reservations is key.
Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests can book advance dining reservations as early as 60 days before they arrive. If you have plans to enjoy quick-service meals, plan them out before the mealtime rolls around so you can put your mobile order in a few hours prior to that time to secure it. You’ll be so happy you did it at noon when there are no mobile pickup times available until 1 p.m.!
If you’re staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, consider midday breaks at your resort. A strategically placed trip back to your hotel on Disney’s transportation system can rejuvenate even the most tired bodies. A quick nap or some poolside rest will always help.
My mom’s last bit of advice was to be sure to plan to take a few moments periodically to rest while in the parks. There are so many locations (many indoors with air conditioning) where you can just stop for a bit and relax while you people-watch and soak in the magic. Some Magic Kingdom attractions such as Disney’s Carousel of Progress, Country Bear Musical Jamboree and the Enchanted Tiki Room will also serve as a good break. After pausing for a beat I know they’ll be ready to tackle more fun.
Make sure your parents get to see Donald and Daisy! Donald is also my favorite, so a visit to Magic Kingdom isn’t complete unless I get to see him! One great place to see them both right now is in the Festival of Fantasy parade. Entertainment and character meetings can change, so keep an eye on the
My Disney Experience app to see what’s available during your visit. Tap the map icon at the bottom and use the filters for Magic Kingdom and Entertainment and/or Characters.
I hope this information was helpful! Please visit us here at planDisney if you have any additional questions about making your next visit super special. TTFN… ta-ta for now!
