Hey there, hi there, Sarah! Welcome, and thanks so much for bringing us your question.
I love that
Walt Disney World has accommodations that can fit just about any size family. As my own family has grown over the years, having the extra pull-down beds has come in quite handy.
You'll find that the
Disney Resorts Collection hotels that offer this smaller pull-down bed have the mattress sort of set in - it's a little hard to describe, but if you can imagine a jewelry box, then think of the little square of cotton they set inside the box before they put the jewelry into it, that's kind of what this is. The frame of the bed is more of a box than a frame, so the mattress sits inside the box instead of on top of a frame. At
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, even with the new
Moana themed rooms, the day bed still converts to this smaller, box type of accommodation.
Because of this configuration, the bed rails don't work. They won't fit into the box and under the mattress. Don't despair, however, Sarah. I have learned through trial and error with my own grandchildren that the patio chairs work pretty perfectly to block a sleepy preschooler into the bed. It's not the ideal situation, since you have to cart them in and out, but I liked the security they provided. There is also a chair in the room, and that works well, but my grandson is a wiggly sleeper, and I felt safer with the two chairs from the patio.
I hope your family makes a million magical memories!
Anna
