    Just about three weeks till our trip! Excited! Meanwhile, I need to shop for good footwear that won't hurt my feet or cause leg pain. Can you give me tried-and-true Disney footwear suggestions? I have fibromyalgia, so good support & comfort are a must.

    I can tell the excitement must be building at your house with just 3 weeks left on your Walt Disney World vacation countdown! It's a very smart idea to be prepared with good quality, supportive footwear because touring the parks does involve a fair amount of walking. I had bone surgery on my left foot several years ago so I completely understand your need to avoid foot and leg pain. When I see women wearing heels or flip-flops in the parks, I just cringe! 

    My personal favorite shoe brands are Abeo (sold exclusively by The Walking Company), Merrell and Ecco. These companies produce footwear designed especially for walking, so the shoes are lightweight, have excellent arch support, a correct fit (no pinching) across the metatarsal and toe box, and the right amount of cushioning (shock absorption). You can view various styles online at the individual company websites. If there isn't a retail location in your local area, all three brands also offer online shopping and have fairly easy return policies. 

    I feel that the socks you wear are just as important as your choice of footwear. You can have great shoes, but if you put the wrong sock underneath (too thick/bulky, no support), you will definitely not have happy feet! I prefer moisture-wicking socks (not 100% cotton!) that allow your feet to breathe and stay dry. My favorites are Experia by Thorlo and Champion. Believe me, when it's nearly 90 degrees under the Orlando sun and you're snacking your way around World Showcase at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, your feet will appreciate the support and comfort of quality shoes and socks!
