Hello Leslie!
Welcome to planDisney! I was in the same situation, with tickets bought at that same time! We were scheduled to visit the Disneyland Resort in June of 2020, but I’m sure you know how that went.
Disneyland Tickets did have their expiration extended until December 16, 2021. By extending the expiration, what that meant was that our tickets were still valid on any day, without any additional fees needed, even though the current ticket prices are higher than what we paid. You do have to call and have those tickets converted to the new ticket type, so you could book a reservation, but no additional costs were involved. We were able to use some of our tickets last weekend, but I still have two tickets left from that purchase in 2020 that we will be unable to use before the expiration date.
Hakuna Matata, Leslie! No Worries! Once the tickets are “expired” that does not mean that they are gone forever and you lost out on what you paid for them. You can use the value paid for expired tickets toward the purchase of new tickets at the same or higher price point! This will
require a call to ticketing or a visit to the ticket booth, and you will need to pay any additional fees toward the new ticket. Please note, that if the new ticket is at a lower price than what you paid, you will not receive a refund for the difference.
I hope this helps to alleviate any concerns, Leslie. And now you can plan a visit for the future! I hope you’ll return here to planDisney as you get ready for that visit. We love talking Disney and are here to help!
