Hi Moms, I thought I had read somewhere that if you arrive at one of the parks first something special happens, could you tell me if this is true or not?? THANKS!!!

    Christina,

Yes, each park has it's own "rope drop" show at the opening of the park. In these shows they make sure that the park is opened in fun and festive style, and really gets the crowd excited for the day.

My favorite is the Magic Kingdom's, where the train rolls up with singers, dancers, characters, and a family of the day that will open the park. My wife, who is TOTALLY not into such things, got a bit misty eyed at the experience, and now insists on making at least one rope drop on every trip.

As for that family of the day, don't ask me how they get picked. If I ever get to do it I will let you know!

I like all of the others, though it can get a bit crowded in the narrow streets of Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. In these, as with Epcot, they actually let you inside the park for the actual rope drop, so you are already getting to feel the magic of the day, even though it has not officially started yet.

If you can get your family going for one of these, I recommend it highly. It is not just an entertaining way to get your day started, but with visits to the park you really get more done if you can be there right at opening. Arrive a good 15-20 minutes before opening to attend!

Write me back if you have any questions!

    Have a magical vacation!
