Hi Jennifer,
Weather is always a concerning factor when booking a vacation, especially one that is located in a coastal area. Fortunately, Orlando is fairly far inland and typically does not get as affected by hurricanes as cities closer to the coast. Disney World has only closed a handful of times for hurricanes since opening so it is not a very common occurrence.
Hurricane season runs from Jun 1 through November 30th in Florida so you are hard-pressed to find a date that doesn't fit in this window of time. Luckily, Disney World is incredibly prepared for the unlikely event of a hurricane with a
solid policy for how cancellations will be handled. If you are already on-site, they will make sure your family is safe and taken care of for the duration of the storm. I would not worry too much about this as a possibility though. I have visited annually during October for the last 15 years and have never encountered an issue resulting from a hurricane.
September and October are both fabulous months to visit Walt Disney World Resort. I love this time of year because the weather is often a little cooler and I have found it to be less likely to rain than in the summer months. It is also a fabulous time to visit because the theme parks are decked out for Fall!
Mickey's No-So-Scary Halloween Party will be in full swing during both months and is a must-do event. During this after-hours party, you will have much shorter lines for the rides, get to watch a spooktacular parade, and dance the night away with your favorite Disney friends. Your family can also wear their costumes, trick-or-treat throughout Magic Kingdom, and feast on villainously good food. During September and October, the
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival will also be underway with some of the most unique and delicious food and drinks from all over the world. Both of these events are spectacular and add something extra to an already magical vacation.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
