We are thinking of taking a trip wdw and was wanting any information I could get about saving money staying at hotels and eating. This will be our, well my first time out of Michigan with my 8 year old daughter. Thank you

Hi, Rebecca! Your first time out of Michigan? Now that is something special!

You will find throughout the year that Walt Disney World does make special offers, discounting resorts or even in the past offering options like free dining.  Your best bet is to keep an eye on the page Walt Disney World Special Offers.  If you check right now, you'll see there is a resort discount of up to 30 percent and another discount on a package.

Staying at a Walt Disney World resorts gives you a small refrigerator in most resort rooms, and that is a great way to save a few dollars.  My family is likely to have a store of yogurt, juice boxes, and some fresh fruit to grab for breakfast in our fridge, which allows us to save the money we might have spent on breakfast to enjoy a nicer lunch or dinner.

Another tip I learned this past year can help you to save as well.  If you have a Target Red Card, which is available as a credit or debit card, you can purchase Disney Gift Cards with a five percent Red Card discount.  While it may not sound like much, it adds up, and the cards can be used to pay for your resort, souvenirs, and evening dining experiences.

I hope you have a great time planning, and if there is anything else we can do to help make this a magical journey for you and your daughter, come on back and let us know!
