Thinking of taking our son to WDW in late Aug '09. He will be 11 mo. old. Am I insane for taking a child that young into FL heat? Also, WDW website says this is value season w/low crowds, but other sites say anytime thru labor day is packed - insight?

Hi, Jennifer!  My girls are all Walt Disney World veterans from about the age of four months, so I may be the wrong person to answer this question for you!  I don't think there is an age too young or too old to go to Walt Disney World!

Plan for the heat by making sure you have sun screen, a hat, sunglasses (if he'll keep them on), and if you can, a fan that you can attach to the stroller that will help keep the air circulating around the baby (they do sell them at Walt Disney World, or you can purchase them online before you go).  We also try to do one outside thing followed by one inside thing, that way you aren't out in the heat for extended periods of time.  Keep him well hydrated as well.

My personal experience is that the crowds definitely begin to diminish the last week in August.  I think it's because many of the southern schools and most colleges are already back in session by then.  However, the past few years, with the offer of free dining, the crowds are noticeably larger.  I don't think it's something you need to really worry about, as you won't find it as crowded as the big holidays or even the peak of summer.  It picks up a bit Labor Day weekend.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
