I was thinking of taking my daughter to Disneyland in October for Mickey's Halloween party. She will be 3 and I'm a single mom. Do you have any recommendations to keep the costs down?

    Hello Kim,

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I hope you are having a Fantasmic! day!

Budgeting for a trip to The Happiest Place on Earth can be overwhelming but I don’t want it to be. I want you to focus on the magical memories you are going to make with your daughter! Since you are thinking about attending Mickey’s Halloween Party, you may want to attend just the party on that day since that requires a separate party ticket. Last year, party attendees were allowed to enter Disneyland Park about 3 hours prior to the party starting, this may change this year and announcements have not been made yet but with party hours being a good amount, it may be enough for a 3 year old.

While in the parks, you can bring in your own snacks and drinks. Just be sure to leave any glass at home. We like to pack sandwiches in a soft sided cooler and keep it in the stroller and then for the other meal, grab a hot dog or famous corn dog. This can help keep the budget down. Eating a hot dog while grabbing a table on Main Street, U.S.A. to people watch is a lot of fun too! We bring a couple water bottles to refill at the drinking fountains too. This will help save money and make sure you and your princess are staying hydrating during your adventure.

If you sign up to get a Disney VISA Card from Chase, you can save while shopping in the parks. We signed up with a debit card. Another note on shopping, sometimes I stop by the Disney Store before a vacation and look in their clearance section. I’ll buy a couple items and wait to give it to our littles until we are on our vacation.

We also like to check out our local Costco for tickets to the Disneyland Resort, they often have great package deals.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please visit me here and let me know how I can help you plan your pixie-dusted visit.

    Wishing you magic!
