I am thinking about planning a cruise for my daughter (5) and me. Can we choose the dinner time? The second shift is going to be quite late for us...

Ahoy there, Karen! I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome you aboard the most magical panel on Earth — planDisney!

How exciting that you're planning a Disney Cruise Line vacation for you and your daughter! What a truly special way to make lifelong memories together. Each ship in the Disney fleet is filled with magic around every corner. From Broadway-style shows and themed dining experiences to incredible kids' clubs that are designed with fun in mind. You'll even find dedicated spaces just for adults, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. With so many itineraries to choose from, whether you're dreaming of a tropical escape to the Bahamas or Caribbean, a breathtaking voyage through Alaska, or even exploring Europe, you'll be sure to find the perfect fit.

One of the most beloved features of Disney Cruise Line is the rotational dining service. This unique experience allows you to rotate through different themed restaurants each night while your same service team travels with you, ensuring personal care throughout your voyage. I completely understand your preference for the first seating with your 5-year-old daughter...I felt the exact same way when my kids were younger! When you book your cruise, you'll be able to select either first or second dining, if both are available; otherwise, one will be assigned to you.

If you've been scheduled for the second seating but would like to request first seating instead, you'll be able to add yourself to the waitlist. Simply log into your Disney Cruise Line account on the website or use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and select "My Reservations" to submit your request, subject to availability. From personal experience, I've had wonderful success with this process when sailing recently with my younger niece and nephew.

If your waitlist doesn't go through before your embarkation day, don't worry! Once you're onboard, you can stop by Guest Services to ask about switching your seating. While it's never guaranteed, the Cast Members always do their best to accommodate families.

Karen, I hope this information is helpful as you continue to plan your very special mother/daughter cruise! If any other questions come up along the way, sail back over to planDisney...we're always happy to help!

    Happy Planning,

    Kami
