Hi Jerry,
I have been a member of the Disney Vacation Club since 1999. My family has taken wonderful vacations which would not have been possible if we were not members of the club. However, we would not have purchased this real estate interest if we could afford the purchase price and the annual maintenance fee.
One of the advantage of this time share is the flexibility of the program. Each day at a resort is assigned a point value. The more popular the vacation period the greater the point value. You can easily calculate how many points you will need to take a vacation. Based on this you could go more than one time depending on the number of points you purchase. You must buy a minimum of 160 points which will get you a studio for a week during certain weeks of the year including the summer. You base your purchase amount on how you vacation so if you need more points, you buy a great interest.
You can bank and borrow points from any three year window to combine points for a larger vacation such as a cruise or large family gathering. The possibilities are endless.
Depending on the purchase program being offered at the time, your initial up front cost varies. We had part of our payment in the form of refund points. You can finance your purchase and annual maintenance fees can be paid monthly.
I recommend talking to the cast members at Disney Vacation Club by calling them at 877-382-7826 and visiting the
website. The cast members are excellent and are not pushy. I remember leaving Disney after my tour and wanted to buy the membership and we were told "No" you have 30 days to think about it. It took two:)
Have a magical day!
Beth
