Hi Linda,
As Ellie from
Up would say, "Adventure is out there," and I'm thrilled to hear you're thinking through some special experiences for your upcoming visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
For the safety of all Guests, any posted age requirements are upheld quite strictly and any member of your party who would like to experience the
Starlight Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge would need to be at least eight years of age at the time of the tour. Since your Mouseketeer won't
quite be old enough, I do have a few other suggestions for you. First,
Kilimanjaro Safaris is a completely different experience at night than during the daytime. While you won't be given night vision goggles, the driver does use a spotlight to point out wildlife throughout the tour and it's neat to see the animals in their habitat after the sun goes down. Another great nighttime option is to participate in the complimentary night vision animal viewing at either Uzima Overlook at Jambo House or Kidani Rock Overlook at Kidani Village at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. You can find exact times on the most recent recreation calendar once you arrive, but you can expect to be able to use a pair of night vision goggles to look out over the savanna and watch the animals under the stars. My family LOVED this experience. Also, while it's not a nighttime viewing experience, I also highly recommend the
Up Close With Rhinos tour. You'll be given behind the scenes access to the rhino barn, learn all about these amazing creatures and their unique personalities, and possibly even be able to interact with one! The minimum age for that tour is only four years old, so the great news is that your princess would be able to enjoy that tour with you.
Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your great question, Linda, and please come see us again if we can help with anything else. I hope that you have a truly magical vacation next
spring!
Missy
