Welcome aboard, Trudi! Isn't it exciting to dream about setting sail with Captain Mickey and his crew? I can tell you from lots of experience, that a
Disney Cruise Line vacation is certainly the adventure of a lifetime. I do hope that you'll continue looking into planning your family's first cruise with Disney!
You're right that hurricane season can be in full swing in October. However, I must say that I've sailed many times in the fall, including when hurricanes were around, and we've had great experiences. Disney takes guests' safety and comfort very seriously, so they keep on top of
itinerary changes when necessary if a hurricane is present. The captain will navigate the ship so as to avoid the rough seas as much as possible, and obviously out of the way of the storm. Now, there have been some occasions when cruises were delayed or extended, due to a serious weather situation, but Disney takes great care of their guests in those very rare circumstances. My family and I have routinely enjoyed smooth sailing during the fall, and when there was a storm, our ship navigated a different route to avoid the roughest waters. We have had a few times when we were rocking a bit more than normal, but it is certainly not a reason I'd hesitate to book in the fall again. In fact, it's one of my family's favorite times to sail with Disney!
Have fun planning and please visit us again if you have more questions, Trudi! We're happy to help!
