    Thinking about coming for Christmas as a surprise to my son. Are the parks open during the televised Christmas morning parade?

    Hi Monica,

    Barring emergencies, the Disney parks are open 365 days a year. 

    The parks will be open Christmas morning and throughout the day. I should also tell you that the Christmas parade is not actually filmed on Christmas morning. Typically taping occurs over the course of a long weekend in early December (2014 film dates have not yet been announced). The parks are open during parade taping, but there may be some minor disruption of touring for guests as they are rerouted around some active film areas.

    I've been at Walt Disney World twice on Christmas Day and I can tell you that it is extremely busy then - one of most crowded days of the year. It's a fun time to visit if you're a Disney veteran who enjoys the hubbub, but some first time guests find it a challenging introduction to Disney World.
