We are thinking of bringing our 7 year old grandson to WDW for his 2nd visit. Crowd and weather wise, is October 16-22, a good time to visit? Thank you

Hi, Tony! What a grand adventure your grandson will have! October is my family's favorite month to visit Walt Disney World Resort for so many reasons. The weather is beautiful, the crowds are generally lower for most of the month, and there are some great special events going on throughout the month.

We have visited the Resort several times during October in the last five years. It is generally a less rainy month and a tad cooler than the summer months. We have experienced a wide range of temperatures during our October visits, with this year being no exception. It was definitely a lot hotter than we expected, which led to many splashtastic afternoons! In previous years, I just made sure to pack clothes that could be layered for cooler mornings and evenings.

In our experience, the Walt Disney World Resort can be crowded around Columbus Day weekend, but slows down a bit in the last half of the month. I think the dates you mentioned should be pretty good when considering crowd levels. This combined with cooler temperatures makes October a pretty easy month to tour the parks.

There are two really exciting events going on during October - Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. I am sure your grandson would love to trick-or-treat at Magic Kingdom, but be sure to stop by the festival with him. Our little "foodies" love to sample the fare and discover what new favorite tastes they find.

I hope this helps you plan a grand trip, Tony! Please stop by if you have any further questions. Be sure to check out the wonderful video from my friend, Anne B., for some great tips on visiting with grandchildren. Have a magical day!
