I am thinking about bringing the kids for a short visit on the way to or from visiting family for Thanksgiving. Would we miss much of the Christmas decorations and events if we came the weekend before instead of after? Thanks!

    Susan.

Christmas decorations start going up in mid-November, and are not fully done until AFTER they have taped the Christmas Day Parade. They do that taping in early December (usually in the single digit days), and the reason why all is not up FOR the taping is that some garlands and the tree as you enter into the park would get in the way of their camera shots.

But to answer your question, I think that you would be fine visiting the week before rather than the week after. Will you see fewer decorations? Yes. But will you still LOVE it? YES!

Do what is easiest for your schedule. There should be plenty to see starting on around the 20th, and what you don't see, you won't know, so you won't miss it!

    Have a magical vacation!
