Hi, thinking about booking the Wild Africa trek in AK, any suggestions. Just my husband and I, also are there any areas on the tour that you would have to crouch down, or jump, as my H has limited range in hips? Thanks.

    Hi Laurie,

I've been on the Wild Africa Trek twice. This is a wonderful experience, one of my favorite tours at Walt Disney World.

There aren't any areas of the tour where you would specifically have to crouch or jump. However, I must warn you that there is quite a lot of movement involved in this experience. During the first part of the tour, you are walking over unpaved terrain, up small hills, navigating around roots and branches. During the middle part of the tour, there is climbing up some fairly steep stairs. And the main activity is crossing some high rope and plank bridges. The planks are sometimes far apart. I'm 5' 6" and in several spots I had to really stretch my legs to reach to the next plank. My 11 year old daughters did have to hop a bit to get to some of the planks.

If your husband is OK with stairs, walking on uneven ground, and taking a long stride, he'll probably be OK. At the beginning of the tour there is a practice rope bridge that allows guests to make sure that they're comfortable with the experience prior to getting out in the field. You may want to book the tour and try the practice bridge. If it seems like it's not appropriate, then you would likely be able to get a refund.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
