We are thinking about booking a package at the new Arts of Animation Hotel with the basic dining plan. Would we still be able to do character dinners? Are the dining options a lot more limited with the value hotels in comparison with mod/deluxe hotels?

    Hi Amie!

If you take advantage of the free dining promotion being offered (see special offers for details), then yes, you are correct, since you are staying at Art of Animation (AOA) resort, it will include the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan (DDP).

The Quick Service (QS) DDP allows you to have two QS meals per person, per night of your stay, plus one snack and one refillable resort mug. The character meals are require a Table Service (TS) credit, therefore you would not be able to use the QS DDP credits towards a character meal.

You have two options, you can upgrade your plan for a small fee and have the regular DDP. This opens up the doors to many more options, including being able to enjoy character meals and signature dining experiences. My family has often stayed at the Value resorts and upgrade our DDP so we could enjoy the wonderful Disney Table Service options. I think that is the best way to go.

You can review the options for the DDP on the Disney Dining Plan site.

I hope you have a magical vacation!
    Magically,
