Thinking about booking a cruise to Bahamas in mid March of 2017, husband and daughter will want to do all the water activities. Will the water be warm enough to be spending a lot of time in it and actually make the cruise worth taking??Thanks!

  • Welcome Aboard, Jennifer!

I'm so glad you navigated your way to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your cruising question!

A cruise in mid-March sounds wonderful! My husband and I embarked on a Disney Cruise Line Vacation to the Western Caribbean in March of 2012, which included a stop at Disney's Private Island Paradise, Castaway Cay, in the Bahamas. We found the water at Castaway Cay to be a little chilly at first, but once we got used to it, we swam around like fish!

Your water-loving family will love spending time finding the "hidden treasures" in the snorkeling lagoon off of the Castaway Family Beach. They will also want to swim out to take the Pelican Plunge! You might also consider booking "Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure" for your family. Here you will learn about these gentle sea creatures and have a chance to snorkel in their lagoon.

If you are not a fan of being in the water, you will find plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas all along the Castaway Family Beach. If your daughter wants to check out Scuttle's Cove, the kids club on Castaway Cay, you might consider heading down to Serenity Bay with your husband. This adults-only beach is usually pretty quiet, and we have found some fascinating sea life in the lagoon there.

If you are planning to spend the day enjoying water activities in Nassau, I would recommend heading to Atlantis Aquaventure for the day. This amazing water park features a number of water slides, river rapids, waterfalls, water holes, and amazing special effects. You will find plenty of fun activities to keep you busy for an entire day.

I hope this helps with planning for your 2017 cruise! Please visit us again with more questions as they arise before you set sail to the Bahamas.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
