We have Thanksgiving Day dinner reservations at the Skipper Canteen. When booking, I was told the menu for the day would be a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but I can't find confirmation of that online. Please advise.

Hello, Eria! Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen has a delicious menu that's perfect for adventurous palates. I must say that the Whole Fried Fish and "Tastes like Chicken" are two of my favorite things I've ever eaten in Magic Kingdom Park (and that's saying a lot because I've gobbled up many things there over the yEARs)! However, I understand that a menu featuring Asian flavors and themed around wit and dry humor doesn't exactly scream Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, they are not offering a traditional meal with all the trimmings this yEAR, but I'd be happy to give you a few alternatives.

Now that Halloween is in our rearview window, it's time to start talking turkey! There are a handful of Table Service restaurants in Magic Kingdom Park that have a special Thanksgiving menu for 2019, including Liberty Tree Tavern, which serves up a Pilgrim's Feast 365 days a yEAR. Recently added to the Thanksgiving line up are The Crystal Palace, The Plaza Restaurant, and Cinderella's Royal Table. I did a quick check on the Walt Disney World website today and I did not have any luck finding availability; however, I suggest calling Disney Dining at (407) 939-3463 and see if they can help you. Some of my fellow Panelists have used the Reservation Finder Tool on the Touring Plans website (which charges a subscription fee) with great success.

Another recommendation is to hop on the monorail and head to one of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Disney's Contemporary Resort. The Wave... of American Flavors is a hidden gem (let's just keep that between you and me), and they may have an option that's perfect for you! Guests will start their meals at the buffet, which features assorted salads, shaved brussels sprouts, corn slaw, tomato bisque, and a charcuterie selection. Then, they can choose one entrée out of six different options, including a traditional turkey dinner (you may have to pack some elastic waist pants for this meal)! Last I checked, there were a few reservations left, especially earlier in the afternoon.

I hope you're able to find a great place to have your family dinner this Thanksgiving, Eria, and don't forget to pass the mashed potatoes!
