Hi Nicole!
What a great question! It is tough to make a decision when faced with so many wonderful options! The differences between
Animal Kingdom Lodge and Port Orleans are quite numerous, so it really depends on the experience your family is looking for.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort amidst a 43-acre wildlife preserve. There are over 30 species of wildlife roaming on four lush, tropical savannas. There is a plethora of recreation options, including close-up animal encounters, children's activity center and a 4,700 square foot pool. There are also many
dining options, including Jiko - The Cooking Place, in which I've heard amazing reviews.
Port Orleans - Riverside will transform you to the Louisiana Bayou, complete with a beautiful lake, mint juleps on the patio and carriage rides throughout the resort.
I've had the luxury of seeing the amazing Royal Guest Rooms at Port Orleans, and I have to say, they are incredible! There is a scene on the wall behind the royal beds with fireworks that actually look as if they are shooting off into the night's sky. The bed is fit for a princess with a grand headboard and luxurious bedding. The room is filled with surprises left by Princess Tiana and her best friends, including Belle, Cinderella and Arial. You can even look for the special hidden mickey hiding in the furniture.
Personally, I would choose the Royal Guest Room at Port Orleans because of the amazing themeing in this room. Disney really outdid themselves with these beautiful rooms!
No matter which one you choose, I know you will have a magical vacation!
Magically,
Stacy
