Hi, Jolene!
Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel with your question. We love helping Guests plan magical Walt Disney World vacations!
"Jersey Week" is the unofficial appellation given to the first full week of November when many New Jersey families head down to Walt Disney World due to a public school break. New Jersey public schools are closed the Thursday and Friday of this week for the NJ State Teachers' Convention and many families like to take advantage of this time off from school to visit Mickey Mouse. This year the convention dates are November 7 and 8. In 2014 the convention will be held on November 6 and 7.
The surge in crowd levels during the second half of the first full week of November are not simply a result of New Jerseyans on the move, but also of the timing of Veteran's Day (Monday, November 11th this year) and the
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Saturday and Sunday (November 9 and 10) are predicted to be extremely busy at Epcot due to the Half Marathon Weekend and a large number of marathon participants visiting World Showcase for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.
So these three factors together can result in a perfect storm of significantly increased crowd levels, particularly in Magic Kingdom and Epcot from Friday to Monday of the first full week in November. If you do find yourself at Walt Disney World during this week, I recommend avoiding Magic Kingdom and Epcot during the latter half of the week.
I hope this helps you with planning your November 2014 visit, Jolene. Come visit us again with any other questions.
