Thank you for clearing this up for us. We have the first generation bands, so we'll have to buy new ones before our next trip. We will be staying at the Grand Californian and thought I'd read where we can get the new bands at a discounted price?

Welcome back, Susan! I'm so glad that my last answer was helpful, and that I now get a chance to help some more!

Unlike Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, the Disneyland Resort Hotels do not offer a discount on the prepurchase of MagicBand+. I'm sorry if this is disappointing news. However, you might get a discount on your purchase if you use a Chase Disney Visa card for select purchases on DisneyStore.com or at the Disneyland Resort. If you do not have a Chase Visa, I've also had good luck finding occasional sales on DisneyStore.com at the end of the holiday season.

Susan, if you've used a MagicBand at Walt Disney World, you are likely used to the impressive integration the bands have when experiencing the theme parks. While MagicBand+ was introduced at Disneyland Resort a couple of years ago, its uses aren't quite as extensive. Rest assured that MagicBand+ is completely optional, and I find that my phone with the Disneyland Mobile App downloaded can be just as useful as a MagicBand+ when scanning into the theme parks, using Lighting Lane entrances, and taking Disney PhotoPass pictures. However, if you decide to buy new MagicBands+, I want you to know that you can use them at Walt Disney World and on Disney Cruise Line - so it's a very magical investment!

I hope this information helps, Susan. Please feel free to visit again, if I can answer any more planning questions.

    See ya real soon,
    Melissa
