    Are magic bands required?

Hello there, Joe. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I'm happy you're here!

MagicBand+ is a fun but optional band that keeps your theme park ticket, Disney Hotel room key, and Disney PhotoPass link conveniently located on your wrist. On many occasions, it can take the place of the My Disney Experience Mobile App on your phone. I've used it for my most recent Walt Disney World trips and I think it was a game-changer when it came to convenience!

Joe, something I love is that MagicBand+ is reusable and rechargeable. It is easy to use for Lightning Lane return times and linking your Disney PhotoPass pictures to your MyDisney account. It also illuminates and interacts with some rides, shows, and entertainment throughout the resort! Another thing to keep in mind, a MagicBand+ will work to scan into the theme parks (with a valid admission ticket and park reservation) regardless of its level of charge; however, if it is not fully charged, some functionality, like the illumination and vibration during Luminous – The Symphony of Us at EPCOT may not work.

Whether you purchase a MagicBand+ is entirely up to you, Joe. I know many people who visit The Most Magical Place on Earth without one, and they do just fine. I love my MagicBand+ because it adds a bit of extra pixie dust, but that is just me!

I hope this information helps. If you have any other planning questions or want to know the best way to navigate the My Disney Experience Mobile App (my friends Brent and Susan are pros!), please visit planDisney again. We'd be honored to help!

    See you real soon,
    Melissa
