A ? about the Teppan Edo restaurant. If one of the guests has a shellfish allergy, does this mean that the chef will not be able to prepare seafood for the rest of the party at that table?

    Hi Susan,

This is a great question. My daughter Nicole is allergic to shellfish, and we still enjoy this restaurant. Her sister Jessica would be annoyed if she could not get her shrimp because of Nicole's allergy.

I have seen them handle her allergy two ways. The first is they cook her chicken before anything else. The second is that they prepare it in the back while the rest of our meal is cooked before our eyes. Nicole prefers when they cook her meal first because she is generally hungry!

Remember to mention the allergy while making your Advance Dining Reservations as well as when you check in at the restaurant. Most head chefs will come out and discuss the menu with you especially if you are in a predominately seafood restaurant or at a buffet. Nicole had the chef at Cape May Cafe, which is a clam bake, walk her around the buffet to tell her what she could and could not eat.

    So enjoy the show!
