Hi Becky! I took my son to Ridemakerz last spring, and he loved it. I think your boys are the perfect ages for it! Actually, I think this build-your-own-car store appeals to boys of all ages, as my husband had quite a good time there too!
At
Ridemakerz, you choose a base car and then customize it with wheels, sounds,
stickers and more. You can choose a base car for as little as $10, with the
prices ranging up to almost $40. The base price includes wheels, rims, and one
sound. You could choose to upgrade those items for an additional charge. There
were free stickers you could use to decorate your car, or you could purchase
stickers, spoilers, mufflers, lights, etc. If you want to drive your car by
radio remote-control, that feature costs $25, plus the cost of batteries for the
remote and the car.
My son chose a $15 car and stuck with the stock wheels, hubs, and sound. He
added remote control and purchased the rechargeable battery along with a spoiler
and a few other items to customize his car, and our total cost was around $65.
If you really want a souped-up car, you could easily spend $100. (Ouch! Tell your boys to start saving their allowances!)
I called the Ridemakerz store to find out if it will still be open in January, but unfortunately the answer to that question is uncertain at this time. Ridemakerz will be in its current location at Downtown Disney through December. It's possible that the store will be in that location or a different location at Downtown Disney after that, but at this time, that hasn't been determined.
Hope you get a chance to try it! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions!
