Can you tell me about  the explorer program animal kingdom?

    Dear Carrie,

Thanks for reaching out to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your terrific question about the Wilderness Explorers program at Disney's Animal Kingdom!

This is such a great program and my kids love it. I know that yours will too! It is based on the characters Russell and Dug from Disney/Pixar's film "Up!" When you are ready to get started, pick up a field guide from Wilderness Explorer headquarters, located on the bridge between Discovery Island and Oasis. The Cast Members there are super friendly, of course, and will help to get you all set up and ready for adventure.

It's basically a scavenger hunt around Disney's Animal Kingdom, that leads your explorers to earn one of 30+ badges on themes as diverse as animal rescue, the environment, music, or dinosaur fossils. If one badge in particular piques their interest, that might be a great place to start. It can take several hours to complete all of the badges, and might be too much for one day, especially considering how many other attractions there are at the Animal Kingdom. It's also totally fun to just try for one or a few badges.

    Remember, adventure is out there!
