Hi Leslie!
It looks like you will be visiting the Disneyland Resort this week! I hope you will enjoy Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. My husband and I stayed there this past spring and found it to be a great location to walk to the parks and Downtown Disney. Be sure to take a photo with the surfing Goofy statue when you check-in!
When Members book a villa at a Disney Vacation Club Resort, they are using Vacation Points. If you would like to use your Membership to book a standard room at a Walt Disney World Resort, or Disneyland Resort hotel, the Vacation Points must first be turned into Reservation Points.
Standard resort rooms are not part of Disney Vacation Club. When Vacation Points are turned into Reservation Points, Disney Vacation Club essentially uses your points to book a standard cash room within the Central Reservation System for you. These are two different inventories and systems. The best value for your Membership is to book a Disney Vacation Club Villa, as the number of points needed to book a standard room are actually higher than a villa. This can be difficult at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa since it can book quickly during popular times. When wanting to book a villa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa it is best to choose a less popular time of year and to try to book right at the 7 month mark. I also recommend getting on the wait list in case a villa becomes available.
My best Disneyland Resort tip is to know that almost all dining establishments throughout the Disneyland Resort offer a discount for Disney Vacation Club Members, so be sure to bring your Membership and Photo ID with you. For a full list of available discounts, be sure to visit the Disneyland tab in the Membership Magic section of the
DVC Member Website.
Wishing you a magical trip to The Happiest Place on Earth!
