We are taking our 5 yr old twins to disney for the first time this May. This will be the first trip for all of us. We have booked at a non disney resort. I'm nervous about the parking & getting to & from the parks. What is the best plan of action?

    Hi Chris,
Fear not! You've come to the right place for answering your question-thanks for joining us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I live right here in Central Florida and frequently come to the Walt Disney World Resort for just the day, so we drive in and park our car just like you will do on your vacation. The best piece of advice I will give you is to allow yourselves plenty of time to travel. Parking is usually situated a fair distance from the gates or another mode of transportation (such as Disney Monorail Transportation or even a ferryboat) designed to get you to the park, so be generous and overestimate your travel time. If you have a smartphone, an app like Google maps can be a lifesaver to help guide you to the park you are visiting for the day, as the voice prompts can help you navigate the roads just in case your partner is assisting the kids in the back seat. The signage on Walt Disney World Resort property is fantastic, but even a seasoned veteran like me still uses an app to help me get around.

Five is such a fun age to visit the Walt Disney World Resort! I hope you and your twins have an amazing time!!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.
