We are taking our 12 yr old granddaughter to D. World in Dec. 2013 & would like tips on what to do. We are not going to stay at a D. Resort, can we still purchase the Meal Plan? Is it really cost effective to purchase the meal plan?

    Hi Jackie!

Congratulations on planning your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation!  There are so many new attractions and entertainment options for you and your family, you will surely enjoy your stay at the Most Magical Place on Earth!

Guests who are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort are unable to purchase the Disney Dining Plan.  The DDP is only offered to guests with a Walt Disney World resort reservation.

As for value, I am a huge lover of the dining plan and try to reserve it when I book my WDW vacations.  It all depends on your eating habits and whether or not your family enjoys counter service and full table service meals (assuming the basic dining plan is what you'll be booking).  A great article about the dining plan and its value can be found on the independent website disneyfoodblog.com.

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!

Hi there! The Disney Parks have been a part of my life since I was a little girl. Introducing my children, husband, and family to all the magic that Walt Disney World can offer has led to countless moments with Mickey and Friends, Disney Vacation Club membership and fun on the high seas with Disney Cruise Lines! Our vacations are usually centered around a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I am super excited to help you plan and create magical moments for you and your families!
