We are taking our 9 year old son to Disney world in October for the first time. He thinks he is "too big" for character dining. Can you suggest one that he may enjoy at age 9?

I have three suggestions for a character meal for an older child:

    1. The Cape May Cafe character breakfast at the Beach Club resort. The characters featured there currently include Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Pluto. The restaurant is quite a bit smaller than many of the other character meal venues. The atmosphere is a little calmer and there is less potentially embarrassing waving of napkins and parading around the room. This restaurant is very convenient to all the Boardwalk area resorts, if you happen to be staying there. You could also easily eat at the Cape May Cafe and then spend the day at Epcot. The Beach Club is only a ten minute walk away from Epcot.

    2. Donald's Safari Breakfast in the Animal Kingdom. The safari theme here says "boy" more than many of the other character meals. Characters here include Donald, Mickey, and Goofy. I have also seen Daisy Duck and others here.

    3. The Garden Grill in Epcot. The characters here include Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto. The restaurant itself is quite unique. The entire restaurant revolves. During your meal you will slowly be presented with different scenes from the Living with the Land ride. The tables are fairly isolated from each other, so your party will have more privacy than at other character meals.

Bear in mind that the characters do sometimes change at the meals. To make advance dining reservations for any character meal (highly recommended) call Disney Dining at 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463).
