    Hi! We are taking our 4 year old on her first trip to Disney World in a few months. I think she will enjoy the Haunted Mansion ride but the pre-show may be a bit much. Is it possible to opt out of the "show" and skip directly to the ride?

    Hello Brianne!

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  I am so happy you've stopped by to ask a question about one of my families favorite attractions at Magic Kingdom,  The Haunted Mansion.  The Grim Grinning Ghosts make my children smile now, but when they were small they did get a little frightened, so I am happy to share my experience with you and hope it helps.

    You can skip the Stretching Room, or "show" portion of the Haunted Mansion ride.   When you go to enter the mansion just let the Cast Member at the door know you would like to skip the Stretching Room and they will walk you through a corridor and on to where you will board your Doom Buggy.   We did this for many years when my boys were still too scared to experience the darkness that happens for just a few seconds in the Stretching Room scene.   I hope your little one loves the attraction as much as my kids do, and soon enough they will be experiencing the "show" along with the rest of the family.  Oh and watch out for those hitchhiking ghosts at the end,  they always seems to be hopping on for a ride.
