Hi, we are taking our 5 year old daughter in 2 weeks and I was wondering how you can get the opportunity to ride a ride with one of the characters? For example, Alice will ride the tea cups with some children. Are there any other characters who ride?

    Hi, Amanda!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your family will be right in the middle of the magic very soon! Your 5-year-old princess is going to have such a wonderful time meeting all her favorite Disney Characters!

Riding an attraction with a Character is a rare opportunity. Your best chance of having this pixie-dusted experience would be to arrive early to Magic Kingdom, prior to park opening. If you are one of the very first families waiting in line for an attraction, you may be lucky enough to have one of the Characters board a ride vehicle with you. However, this is by no means guaranteed; in fact, it may not happen at all during your visit. I have been in the park on past visits and have seen Alice riding the Tea Cups with park guests. I have also seen Goofy riding the Barnstormer (now renamed the Great Goofini) with guests as well as Characters riding Prince Charming's Royal Carousel.

When my family visited Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 4th for the Star Wars "May the Fourth Be With You" Limited Time Magic celebration, we were delighted (and quite surprised!) to see Chewbacca and other Star Wars characters riding Star Tours - The Adventures Continue with guests. But again, this is a rare opportunity and not something that you can expect to happen on a daily basis in the parks, so please be sure not to get your little princess's hopes up to avoid disappointment. There are many Character meet-and-greet opportunities as well as Character Dining experiences offered in all four parks and at certain resorts. Advance dining reservations are highly recommended for character dining locations. You can pick up a Times Guide as you enter any of the parks for a daily schedule of character meet-and-greet times and locations.

Wishing you a magical vacation! Enjoy your "Disney Time" with your family and please let us know of we can provide any additional help with your planning.
