We are taking our two children, 4 and 22mos,  end of Jan for 4 full days. We plan on visiting MK, HS, possibly Epcot. Both children nap. Should we stay where there is a monorail? I don't know if they will sleep well together in one room. Villa?

In terms of transportation convenience for families with young children, the monorail line hotels (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary) are certainly tops. This is a big consideration when you need to return to the resort during the day for a nap break. However, transportation is not the only consideration when choosing a hotel. You also need to think about price, amenities, space, cooking facilities, and other factors. If having separate rooms is of importance to you, then the villas are an excellent choice. The Villas at Wilderness Lodge is a great alternative to the monorail hotels for many. At the VWL, you are only a quick boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, plus with a one or two bedroom villa, you have multiple rooms to give everyone in your party a bit of personal privacy.

However, before you make a vacation decision based on your children's sleep needs, I would test your assumption. It should be easy enough at home to try putting your kids in the same room during a few nap periods and see how difficult it is for them to rest. If indeed it is a challenge, then a villa would be a great solution. In addition to the Wilderness Lodge, you might want to consider the Beach Club and Boardwalk Villas. These offer very convenient access to both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios via boat or on foot.
