We will be taking our 18 month old this year and wondered what is the best hotel for a child that age? We were looking at moderate hotels but are having a hard time deciding which would be best for him. We are looking to spend a lot of time at the pool.

Hi David, At 18 months old, your child is sure to have a wonderful time with you no matter where you're staying. All the Walt Disney World resort hotels have water areas appropriate for small children as well as playgrounds. At the moderate level, my suggestion for you is the Caribbean Beach resort. This hotel has a special area next to the pool that only allows smaller children (and their parents). Another plus of the CRB is that the resort is surrounded by sand. While guests are not allowed to swim in the water, this is great place to relax, dig, and make sandcastles. If you were willing to upgrade to a deluxe resort, some nice choices might be the Grand Floridian or Animal Kingdom Lodge, which both have "zero entry" pools, which allow the smallest guests a shallow area of the main pool. Another good choice is the Yacht and Beach a club resort. Y&B has my favorite pool in all of WDW. The pool itself has a sandy bottom play area for small children. You many also want to consider ease of transportation. The monorail hotels (Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian) allow you access to the Magic Kingdom without the need to fold a stroller. This can be a big convenience with little ones. Good luck with your planning and please let us know if you have additional questions.
