we are taking our grandson who loves sports. is almost 9 when we're there. what sport events, if anything will be going on during that time that he can participate in or be a spectator?

If your grandson is into sports, he will love the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is home to the Atlanta Braves Spring training. If you are visiting during the spring, you can actually watch the Atlanta Braves train. Check out the Atlanta Braves Spring Training site for more information. The Old Spice Classic will take place in November.

As far as  participating in the sports, the tournaments held at the facility wouldn't allow someone not on the team to participate, but I suggest checking out the summer camps that will be held at the facility. That would be something your grandson would really enjoy. Call (407) 541- 5600.

Even if there isn't a special event taking place when you visit, I still suggest heading down to the complex to check out the tournaments held there, eat yummy food at the ESPN Grill, get sports gear and custom t-shirts at the shop and play games in the Playstation Pavilion.

I visited the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex when I visited in December and during my marathon last January, it had a blast!
